昨天是五一劳动节，早上一起床，天气就阴沉沉的，总感觉像是要下雨，果然没过一会儿就下起了雨来。我的心情也如同这天气一样没有一丝的阳光。因为爸爸妈妈答应我下午带我去东湖看灯，可是下雨这件事就泡汤了。
Yesterday was May Day. When I got up in the morning, the weather was gloomy. I always felt like it was going to rain. It rained soon. My mood is just like this weather without any sunshine. Because mom and Dad promised to take me to the East Lake in the afternoon to see the lights, but the rain fell.
下午四点多钟我发现雨停了，就连忙要爸爸妈妈带着我去东湖。从东湖梨园的大门进去，首先映入眼帘的是一个彩灯的长廊，在大门的右侧是一个九龙壁灯，听说它是由近一吨的食糖制作而成的，上面雕刻的九条龙造型各异、栩栩如生，就如同把北京故宫的九龙壁搬了过来。再往前就看见一组龙凤呈祥的灯，走近一看，我大吃一惊，它竟然是由成千上万的酒杯、瓷盘、勺子组合而成的。走到湖边一组气势磅礴的三国故事灯组耸立在湖中，彩灯随着湖面波涛起伏，灯上的人物服装、胡须随风飘逸，看上去十分逼真。我们一边走一边看，无数个彩灯从我眼前闪过，如此壮观，如此精美让我叹为观止。
I found that the rain stopped at 4:00 p.m., so I asked my parents to take me to the East Lake. Entering from the gate of the East Lake pear garden, the first thing you see is a long corridor with colorful lights. On the right side of the gate is a Kowloon wall lamp. It is said that it is made of nearly a ton of sugar. The Nine Dragons carved on it are of different shapes and lifelike, just like the nine dragon walls of the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Then I saw a group of dragon and Phoenix Lights. When I came closer, I was surprised that they were made of thousands of wine glasses, porcelain plates and spoons. Walking to the lake, a group of majestic story lights of the Three Kingdoms stand in the lake. The color lights rise and fall with the waves on the lake, and the clothes and beard on the lights float with the wind, which looks very lifelike. As we walked, we saw countless colorful lights flash in front of my eyes. It was so spectacular and beautiful that I was amazed.
回家的路上，我想着今年的五一又让我长了见识，没想到彩灯还可以有这么多的花样，真是佩服这些制作它们的人，是多么的心灵手巧啊!
On the way home, I thought that this year's May Day has given me a lot of insight. I didn't expect that there could be so many patterns in the lantern. I really admire these people who make them. How clever they are!
